Battlestar Galactica ending after 4th Season; this time for real

There have been rumors for some time that Battlestar Galactica was going to end after the 4th Season. Two of the main actors even said that it would end, but the executive producer came in and claimed their statements shouldn’t be taken as the final word.
Now, however, there is no doubt that the next Season will be the last. Executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick issued an official statement about the end:
This show was always meant to have a beginning, a middle and, finally, an end. Over the course of the last year, the story and the characters have been moving strongly toward that end, and we’ve decided to listen to those internal voices and conclude the show on our own terms
They have always said that Battlestar would finish “on [their] own terms,” and so hopefully they manage to reach a satisfying resolution without it being rushed or drawn out for too long. Moore said that he “wouldn’t want to be in a situation where the story is not completed in the way we want to,” so this way almost everything can get wrapped up. However, the producers also say that it will end “with a bang,” so it will hopefully be thrilling up until the very last minute.
As I have said before, I don’t see this as such a bad thing. I would love to see Battlestar go on forever, but only if it stays good. With only one season left, there hopefully won’t be time for the filler that plagued parts of Season 3. Since they know how many episodes they have to reach the end, every episode can be important to the overall story, instead of just the beginning and end of the season. As long as SciFi doesn’t give them too small a budget and the writers don’t run out of steam, this should be another great season.

How come you people only ever report bad news when it comes to television? How many shows have we talked about being canceled now?

This is actually good news, it means the show won’t be drawn out past its prime.
Also, cancellation (or just a set end) is one of the biggest things that can happen to a show, so if there’s one thing we should report it’s that.

I love this show, but I definitely feel they should end it on their own terms.
