Lost Season 3 Episode 14 - Expose Review

*SPOILERS* Be warned, the following posts contains spoilers about Lost
I honestly think adding Nikki and Paulo to the show was a mistake. Until now, they have had hardly any screen time, and they just didn’t fit in. We were supposed to believe they were there all along, even though it was obvious they weren’t. That said, I didn’t have very high expectations for an episode revolving around them. However, it was better than I expected. While up until the end the events on the island only seemed to be filler, the flashbacks were more interesting than I anticipated considering they were about Nikki and Paulo. Since they were on the island to stay, explaining just how they fit in was good - showing what had already happened but with Nikki and Paulo there may not have made complete sense, but it was better than them just appearing out of nowhere and suddenly being part of the group. Plus, it was nice to return to the events of Season 1. I found the best part to be the conversation between Ben and Juliet though, because it gave just a little more background to the plan they set up. Overall, the flashbacks weren’t great, but they were better than a lot of them, especially considering they were about two characters I couldn’t care less about.
What happened on the island, however, wasn’t really that interesting. The plot seemed like it would have been better suited to an episode of CSI. Still, it did have it’s moments. It was great to have Charlie admit to Sun what he had done, because I was wondering if they would ever resolve that. But could they have finished that plot line because soon Charlie will be gone? If Desmond is to be believed Charlie doesn’t have long to live, and maybe they wanted to make sure everything related to him was finished. With that out of the way, they’re free to get rid of him.
Throughout the episode, I kept thinking Nikki and Paulo were going to wake up. For some reason, they just didn’t seem dead. When they started getting buried though, I decided they must be dead for sure. What happened next I honestly did not expect at all. I definitely didn’t see it coming, and it was one of the few exciting things that didn’t take place in the flashbacks. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until next week to find out if they live - personally, I hope they stay buried. The back story of their island existence has been told, and now it’s time they go back where they belong - somewhere besides this show.

They’re dead. If LOST exists at all in this realm called “reality”, they’re gone. A couple hundred pounds of dirt, no room to move, recent paralysis, and no air underneath the dirt are all working against them.
Good riddance, too. Iconic, my ass. All they did was contribute their one-dimensional greed to the story. They knew all about cool shit like the Pearl and the plane, and didn’t tell anyone. What a joke.
I’m glad they’re gone. They sucked hard, and will not be missed.
That being said, it was a decent episode, but definitely a worthless one in the long run.
